As a part of our practice, we ensure we actively use the principle 'ongoing learning and reflective practice' from the school aged education and care framework 'My Time, Our Place' as we reflect on our program constantly provide avenues for future learning and reflect on the effectiveness of how well our program achieved in providing a fun, educational and safe environment for all children involved.

Our Philosophy

Fun and friendship through creative play is the core of our philosophy as through this our children are able to grow and develop their strengths and skills which they will carry with them in their future endeavors.

In our philosophy and practices, we ensure we are incorporating the '8 Ways of Indigenous Learning' pedagogy to not only incorporate indigenous perspectives but also provides valuable information on other ways children can learn and develop their skills through storytelling, community links, land links, symbols and images, learning maps, deconstruct/reconstruct, nonverbal learning and nonlinear learning.

Other Objectives Include:
Emergent Curriculum - valuing conversations that contribute to meaning and development of programming
Democratic Citizenship - opportunities to participate, to make choice, express ideas, and to act upon children’s daily experiences by asking questions and expressing opinions in matters they relate to
Applying Learning Frameworks - using the School-Aged Care guides, My Time, Our Place and National Quality Standards at the core of our practise.
Recognising our First Australians - creating visibility and conversation through frameworks that value indigenous approaches to learning
Outdoor play - taking advantage of the natural environment and natural materials in play
Building values - talking about our own identities and our peers’ identity, as well as our responsibility to ourselves, one another and our environment.

Our Goal

Our current goal for WEMOOSH is working on streamlining our center procedures and practices.

We are striving to do all within our power through strategies, critical reflection and collaboration to make sure our center provides not only top-quality care, but we are also efficient in all our procedures and practices. We would love to hear any ideas and suggestions you would be willing to share to help us to facilitate this.
